How to Make Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies


Chocolate chip cookies can be soft, crunchy, or whatever you like, but a favorite of many is soft chocolate chip cookies. Making soft chocolate chip cookies is not hard if you just follow these tips that I will give you.

First you'll need to make the chocolate chip cookie dough. If you're looking for a good recipe, search around or use the recipe on the back of the bag of chocolate chips. This is usually a standard chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Mix together the sugars and butter thoroughly. Use an electric mixer to do it fast and well. Don't be until it's really fluffy, just combine to remove all lumps of butter and/or sugar. Then add in the eggs and vanilla.


This step is important to get soft chocolate chip cookies. Do not beat the batter with the eggs so that it becomes fluffy and airy. You are not trying to make a cake or a meringue. Just stir until combined and that is it.

Next, in a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir it with a spoon and sift according to the instructions. If it says sifted flour sift it and then measure it. If is says flour sifted, measure it and then sifted it. This makes sure that you get the right amount of flour.

Now you can gradually add the flour mixture into the wet ingredients. Add a little bit out of time and mix in thoroughly. Again, there is no need to be just mix it completely. Then stir in the chocolate chips.


Refrigerate the dough for at least two hours or preferably overnight. Preheat the oven to make sure it is completely heated before you put the cookies in. Roll the cookie dough into 2 inch balls and place then about 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Make sure the cookie she is not warm especially between batches. Put the cookie sheet in a refrigerator beforehand to make a cold to ensure that it's not warm.

Bake according to the instructions until very lightly golden brown across the whole cookie. You do not want dark brown or it will be hard and crunchy. Still, make sure you cook all the way or else it will just be gooey dough instead of soft cookie and gooey chocolate.

As a side note, when the onion is being cooked, the heat inactivates the enzyme, so that it will no longer irritate your eyes.

There are a few things that you can do to prevent crying when you cut an onion. These include:

* Wear safety goggles,
* Run a fan to pull the sulphuric gas away from you,
* Place the onion in a bowl of water and then cut it, and

Break the Cycle of Emotional Eating!


Do you eat even when you are not hungry? You may be suffering from an emotional eating disorder. Although this disorder may sometimes need the attention of a professional therapist, some of you may actually beat this with the right motivation and a little bit of help and support from your family and friends.

Eating as an answer to different emotions such as sadness,
depression, anger, or even happiness is very unhealthy. This is because you have learned to base your eating habits - a physical need - on feelings - which are psychological in nature. In essence, this is wrong because physical needs should be responded to by physical actions, while emotional needs should be satisfied by psychological actions.

There are many explanations to the craving to eat whenever emotions are running high.
One such explanation is that some foods bring about a change in the hormonal levels in the body and triggers some form of relief from the current emotion being felt. For instance, chocolates are easily a favorite when feeling sad or depressed; this is because of the endorphins that are stimulated by the chocolate. Once in a while, we tend to give to cravings like this, but if you rely on foods to make you feel better, then you may be in trouble.

How do you avoid overeating when you are emotional?

The first step to stop emotional overeating is to know yourself and to identify what triggers these binges. Do you suddenly have the urge to eat before taking an important exam or next in line for that dreaded year-end performance assessment? Do you feel the need to eat after arguing with your partner? These are the most common triggers - stress, anxiety, anger, insecurity- and once you recognize what situations prompt you to overeat, then you can find ways to avoid being in those situations. Or better yet, to find other ways of dealing with your emotions.

The next step you should take is to let yourself feel what real hunger is again. This way, you will notice the physical cues of wanting food instead of emotional cues that lead to emotional overeating. In the morning, you will most likely have the hunger pangs right after you step out of the bathroom. Eat until you have satisfied your stomach. Sometimes, because of the duration of time that you have depended on emotions as a signal to eat or not to eat, your meal schedules are now haywire. Take time to fix your eating schedule.

The third step is to identify what your comfort foods are and then being adamant about not having any of those in your refrigerator or cupboards. Hopefully, you can avoid eating these comfort foods because you would have a difficult time finding them. Also, you may be able to curb the need to eat these foods because you do not see them so invitingly every day.

Finally, take time to relax and rejuvenate your spirit. There are a lot of ways to do this; some choose a simple exercise program like taking walks or jogging. Others like meditating or participating in Yoga classes. Choose one for you and learn how to deal with emotions the right, and healthier, way.

Don't Believe the Docs


If you have a chronic illness, don't believe your docs. Let me explain. When lupus was socking it to me at the worst one of my docs referred to me in his notes as "steroid dependent" and "unfortunate". All of my docs told me I'd be on steroids (prednisone) forever. When I grew tired of hearing docs say "I don't know" I took charge of my wellness and responsibility for finding answers on my own.

Today I am OFF all pharmaceuticals and have been in remission for five years. I'm anything but "unfortunate" and most certainly NOT steroid dependent. Hence, the reason I went back to school and earned an M.S. in Holistic Nutrition. I want to help others like I was helped.

I'm not going to tell you that changing your diet, changing your mind and exercising is going to give you the remission that I have attained. I don't know that. I DO KNOW everything in your life which isn't promoting wellness which you change for the better will give you a greater degree of wellness.

So what are you waiting for? Give yourself a fighting chance! Western medicine is really good at creating victims. Doctors don't have fortune-telling ability. Don't let them put a black cloud over your life. You can choose NOT to be a victim! You ALWAYS have a choice.

That bears saying again: You ALWAYS have a choice!

I've seen so many people with chronic diseases just give up. They completely rely only on what their doctors tell them. They don't do anything to try to help themselves. It's sad to watch them morph into victims as they become their disease. The minute you identify with your disease and allow it to define your life you become a victim. Realize this. In 17 yrs of my lupus being active not one physician (and I had an army of them) inquired about my nutrition. NUTRITION is what gave me my life back.

To work optimally your body needs nutrients. Nutrition is where you start to regain your health and/or to keep your health. This advice goes to the "healthy" folks out there too! Consider 85% of diseases are lifestyle relasted. If you aren't taking charge and taking responsibility for your wellness you have a really high probability of joining the ranks of those with chronic illness. So get off your couch! Stop saying you don't have time to exercise or cook healthy meals. In a REAL WAY you DON'T have time. You don't have time to waste making excuses. "Healthy" people don't have to be victims of lifestyle diseases UNLESS you choose to be by your choices!

Take some time today and ponder what in your life does not promote wellness. Get a notebook or a journal and make a list. Resolve to replace what doesn't promote wellness with behaviors which do promote wellness. Make a second list of positive behaviors you wish to change to. Then go at them one at a time.

Start with veggies and fruits! You should be eating:

Women - 7 servings of veggies and fruits
Men - 9 servings of veggies and fruits
Children - 5 servings of veggies and fruits


Changing a couch-potato-poor-eating lifestyle is a hard thing. But you can do it. Make one change at a time.

1. Add a salad every day.
2. Add two fruits every day.
3. Add 3 servings of veggies a day.
4. Take a walk every day.
5. Use manual doors at stores instead of the automatic doors.
6. Park farther away from the store or your work (in safe areas).
7. Cut back on coffee - switch to a cup of green tea.


Not an exhaustive list but you get the idea. Do what you can to make your lifestyle work for you instead of against you! All facets of your life will be enhanced!

Try working a three days on one day off, or if you are really pressed for time you could do two days in a row then one day off.

Do The Basics:

Squats: These are the basic bending at the knees type of squats, no weights. These will tone your legs and butt.

Arm Curls: get some dumbbells, nothing too heavy. You will use these for various exercises. % to 10 pounds will be fine. Arm curls will help define your biceps.

Shoulder Presses: These will define your shoulders and help build your triceps and traps.

Bent Over Rows: These are good for your back. Your arms will also get some burn from the rows.

Running in Place: Look, if you don't have the time to go out for a jog or your gym doesn't have a track, try running in place. Yeah, it sounds boring, but, it works. Listen to some music or watch the TV.

You can mix up your running with knee ups (alternate raising your knees wile swinging your arms) and walking in place with short sprints.
